Greater Manchester’s leaders have just revealed a major £1billion plan for the city, with 30 projects unveiled designed to boost the economy.

The first wave of the scheme is expected to deliver nearly 3,000 new homes, 22,000 new jobs and two million sq ft of employment areas. Aiming to ‘pioneer a new model for economic growth’ over the next decade, mayor Andy Burnham said “Greater Manchester is the UK’s economic success story of the past decade. Powered by devolution, our journey of growth has transformed our city region and is opening up opportunities that people could not have imagined 30 years ago. Good growth is the defining challenge of our age – and today we are setting out a serious, practical plan to achieve it.”

Manchester’s economy has become the fastest growing across the UK – with an annual growth of 3.1%, more than double the rate of the country as a whole. The investment will mark the start of a new strategic partnership between the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and the Pension Fund to priotise local investment. A city that continues to evolve,  Manchester is truly outpacing the nation on all fronts.
