{"id":7269,"date":"2025-09-02T08:41:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-02T08:41:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vitaliving-circlesquare.com\/?p=7269"},"modified":"2025-10-21T09:59:32","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T09:59:32","slug":"manchester-mayor-announces-transport-expansion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vitaliving-circlesquare.com\/north\/manchester-mayor-announces-transport-expansion\/","title":{"rendered":"Manchester mayor announces transport expansion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A \u00a36M boost into Manchester\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/tfgm.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bee Network<\/a> transport system has just been approved, as an underground infrastructure for Manchester is announced.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new funding is to push the Greater Manchester Combined Authority\u2019s 2030 goal for 90% of city residents to be within a five-minute walk of a bus or tram that arrives every 30 minutes. Major links and routes are expected to be developed, in addition to an underground public transport system to be assessed. The funding will also support the investment into new \u2018next generation\u2019 trams that are fully walk-through, and double the length of current trams.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said: \u201cThis latest funding means we can develop the case for a pipeline of both tram and tram-train new lines and extensions \u2013 and ultimately underground infrastructure in the city centre \u2013 to make sure we get a public transport system befitting the global city region we are.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The transport commissioner for Greater Manchester, Vernon Everitt said: \u201cBetter transport is a core enabler of economic growth, higher productivity and greater access to homes, jobs and wider opportunity across the whole of Greater Manchester.
