Amazon’s latest UK Economic Impact Hub reveals new figures, highlighting the company’s spend across the North West over the past 15 years.
The report showed insight into the global company’s commitment to the North West, with spending totaling more than £5.4billion in the region to date. Dan Boulger from Amazon in Bolton said: “Amazon is committed to strengthening the regional economy and supporting the broader North West community through strategic investments, employment creation, charitable contributions and community engagement initiatives.”
Amazon said the investment into the North West has generated an estimated £3 billion in regional GDP, while creating more than 7,000 full and part-time jobs, boosting employment in the area. The major company also announced further plans to invest an additional £40 billion into the UK between 2025-2027, to create new fulfilment centres, delivery stations and create thousands of new jobs.
Since 2010, more than 1,500 people in the North West have successfully completed Amazon’s career development programme, with hundreds also completing the apprenticeship scheme.
